Key turns, but the door won’t lock
The key or locking points do not engage correctly, even though the door appears closed.
Door is stuck or difficult to secure
The door may be jammed shut, catching on the frame, or failing to lock smoothly.
Avoid forcing the key or handle. If the door cannot be secured, call to discuss availability.

Do I need a new door?
A lock fault does not automatically mean replacing the door. We assess the mechanism and door condition to explain whether a repair or lock replacement is suitable.
Can you replace only the gearbox?
Sometimes. It depends on the fault, the condition of the remaining mechanism and whether a compatible gearbox is available. We check this before recommending a complete replacement.
Can you help if the door is locked shut?
Call and explain the problem. We can assess the access work required and discuss the next available visit. Any opening work is considered when preparing the quote.
Can you give a fixed price from photos?
Photos can help us identify the likely part and provide an initial quote. If access, compatibility or another fault cannot be confirmed remotely, we explain what needs checking on site before agreeing the final price.
Do you supply the part as well as fitting it?
Yes. BMS Locksmiths provides a supply-and-fit service. We identify a suitable part, install it and check that the door locks and unlocks correctly.
