A latch is not a security lock
The photograph above shows an internal wooden door with a mortice latch and lever handles. That fitting keeps the door closed; it does not provide the same locking function as a front-door security lock. A drooping handle or a latch that fails to spring back calls for a different assessment from a lost front-door key.
